Greetings Brethren,
The lodge had an active and successful month of April. Some highlights for you:
- The DARE breakfast was one of the most successful to date and we fed around
150 (hungry) friends and guests. The unused food was donated to the Dover
Children’s Home.
- In conjunction with the DARE breakfast, we collected and made a donation to a
member of the Dover Police Department who was wounded during the tragic event
in Greenland NH.
- One of our new Brothers has started work on a Moses Paul Facebook page to
improve our communication and awareness among younger generations.
- The lodge has applied for the Grand Master’s Award which is given in May at
Grand Lodge. Initial results look promising of us receiving the award!
- We raised our newest Master Mason, Brother Michael A. Dattoli. Welcome to the
Fraternity Brother Dattoli!
- An interesting Masonic Story and Testimonial night at the Stated Meeting.
There are too many Brothers to name who helped and contributed to all of the lodge’s achievements this month, thank you all.
Although, we did have some difficult times this month. We lost one of our Past Masters, Worshipful Leigh Ivey. Attached in this
Trestle Board is a letter I hope you will read and strongly consider.
We also experienced some turbulence leading up to the Stated Meeting in regards to the best practices for disbursing money from
Charity Funds. We have room for improvement in this area, and I hope we can move forward and all behave in a truly Masonic way
in our dialog with each other and in our meetings. I am asking that we all work towards positive compromise and building respectful
consensus in these dealings in the future.
We also have received word that Grand Lodge is considering increasing the Grand Lodge assessment by approximately $20 per
Mason. More information on this will be forthcoming, but it will be initially voted on at the Grand Lodge Stated Communication on
May 19.
We have some fun events coming up and I hope to see some new faces in lodge. My predecessor was very good at getting
inactive brothers to come to lodge. Please think back to why you became a Mason, and ask yourself why you haven’t been able to
attend a meeting lately. Is it because the lodge isn’t handicap accessible? Is it due to the tone and duration of meetings? Are you
bored with what Masonry represents and teaches? I am challenging all of you to pledge to come to at least one event (or more!)
this year. This is your lodge too, and in my opinion it’s a shame to not share in “the happy and beneficial effects of our ancient and
honorable institution”. We do not need you to volunteer or to take a chair, but simply to show up with a positive attitude and enjoy
the Fraternity! As always, please do not hesitate to call if you need a ride.
Fraternally and respectfully,
Worshipful Vincent R. Puleo
